Start a practice interview
Create a Goal for the job
Select New goal and enter the role and company. A Goal keeps your preparation, sessions, and feedback together for that job.
Goals → New goal
For more relevant help: paste the job description, upload your resume in Library, and select it in the Goal’s Prep tab. You can add these later.
Start a practice interview
Open your Goal’s Prep tab and select Start Practice. In Preflight, choose a Practice scenario and check your microphone, then select Start practice session.
Goal → Prep → Start Practice
Put on headphones and answer out loud. Stuck on a question? Select Suggest answer.
You can prepare your Goal and materials before subscribing. Starting a practice or live session requires a subscription. View plans
Practice walkthroughCan’t start the session?
If a check fails, follow Fix before starting, then select Retry checks.
Check your setup, then go live
Select Go Live to open Preflight. Review your Goal, resume, and answer language. Choose This computer for a meeting on your computer, then check microphone and meeting audio. Select Start session when you’re ready.
Goal → Go Live → Preflight → Start session
Copilot responds when it hears a question. For coding or system design on your screen, use Solve screen within the same session.

End your session. Take one next step.
Select End and confirm. Open History or your Goal’s Sessions tab to find the automatic Debrief. Pick one improvement to practice next.
History → Debrief
A Debrief needs enough interview content. A very short session may show Details and a transcript instead.

Which permissions do I need?
Practice needs your microphone. Live calls on this computer also need meeting audio; Screen Help needs screen access. Follow the app’s setup prompts and check Preflight before starting. On Mac, same-computer meeting audio requires macOS 14.4 or newer.
Fix permissionsWhat if my interview is on a phone or in person?
In live Preflight, change Audio source to Phone or in person. Save a short voice sample when prompted so Copilot can identify your voice. For a call, place your phone on speaker near your computer’s microphone.
Set up phone or in-person audioDo I need a separate coding or system design mode?
For live interviews, general, coding, and system design questions work within one session. Screen Help uses Auto-capture or Solve screen for visible problems. When practicing, choose the scenario you want to rehearse in Preflight.
How Screen Help worksWhere are my old web resumes and reports?
They stay in AI Drive and Interview Reports on the website and do not automatically sync to desktop Library or History. Use Open AI Drive on the web in Library or Open Interview Reports on the web in History. To reuse a resume, download it from AI Drive and upload it to Library.
Move from the web appWhat is recorded, and how do I stop a session?
The desktop app automatically records session audio and uploads it after the session; it does not record screen video. Screen Help screenshots are separate, and you can turn off Auto-capture in Settings → Privacy & Stealth. To stop a session, select End and confirm. Hiding or collapsing the assistant keeps it running.
